Building Information Modeling (BIM) Fundamentals

This BIM Fundamentals course teaches a variety of concepts key to the implementation and management of BIM, which include Canadian and international standards, policies and procedures, organizational commitment, legal implications, interoperability of BIM platforms, methods of delivery and BIM execution.

Revit Basic – 4 days: (dates & times TBA)

This hands-on workshop is designed to introduce Revit Architecture and Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts. Topics include how Autodesk Revit parametric change engine benefits you and your work and the fundamental concepts on which Revit is built. Participants learn the terminology, the hierarchy of elements, and how to perform common tasks which include creating a project by doing specifics exercises to practice creating levels, walls, doors, windows, floor and roof objects, stairs and railings, dimensions, basic annotations, drawing sheets and plotting procedures.

Revit Intermediate – 4 day

Covering intermediate Revit Architecture concepts which include: annotation methods, doors and window schedules and site modeling tools (topographical surfaces, structural elements, camera and perspective view creation, rendering lights and materials).

These courses provide a unique opportunity for individuals at Architectural, Engineering & Construction (AEC) sector firms to learn about Building Information Modeling (BIM); implementation, adoption and training.

Course Deliverables

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Deploy BIM applications in integrated project delivery from project conceptualization
  • Design and Construction
  • Facilities Management

Offered at George Brown College's BIM lab (3D immersive visualization system) – these courses provide the opportunity for practical hands-on training to all participants. Maximum of 25 participants per workshop.

Certification:

  • Upon successful completion of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Fundamentals (online course), participants will be eligible for CanBIM Certification Level 1.
  • Upon successful completion of the Revit Basic AND Revit Intermediate, participants will be eligible for CanBIM Certification Level 2.
  • Upon successful completion of any of these courses, participants will also be eligible for Gold Seal Credits.
