Fundamentals for Writing and Issuing Request for Proposals (RFP's)
for Construction and Professional Design Services in Canada

This 4-hour course explores industry best practices for obtaining proposals from contractors or design professionals, or both, when creating a competition between expert service providers. Requests for Proposals, or RFP's for short are commonly used in many sectors by private and public buyers for services. Ensuring the quality of responses are consistent with the needed services required to solve the problem you are attempting to solve is paramount to the success when assembling and writing the RFP. Ensuring you are attracting qualified and competent responses is also crucial for successful project outcomes.

This workshop/course offers the attendee valuable insight and takeaways to evaluate the who, what, where and how the RFP can be successful - as well as managing expectations of stakeholders.Ensuring that you are providing a fair evaluation process is also critical to avoid any potential issues or challenges by responders.

The course offers the following 4 themes:

Module 1 (2 Hours)

    Assessing project needs and creating the Introduction to the project;
  1. Defining the project requirements, budget, and expected outcomes including schedule and quality control.

Module 2 (2 Hours)

  1. The RFP structure including instructions, expected qualifications and evaluation criteria/scoring;
  2. Privilege clauses, clarifications, and details versus directives.

  1. Enhanced understanding for developing clear instructions, qualifications, and quality control to attract responsesdesired overall
  2. Compliance with award requirements in Canada based on clearly defined evaluations and scorecards
