The Level-Up Leadership Excellence in Construction Program is a two-day intensive workshop designed for leaders in the construction industry, focusing on essential leadership skills tailored to construction management. Through a blend of theoretical insights and ample practical application opportunities, attendees will enhance their capabilities in self-awareness, communication, delegation, performance management, coaching, and conflict management. The program will feature expert-led sessions, interactive activities, and relevant case studies to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

Note: this session is intended for active participation, participants will be required to complete a personality assessment prior and will be required to prepare examples and questions they would like to leverage in the session.

Anyone who is currently in a leadership role and is looking to refine their skills as a leader to become even more effective in their role. Also, anyone who is hoping to move into a leadership role and is looking to catapult their skills to become an effective people-leader in the construction industry.

DAY ONE

Module 1: The Inspirational Leader, Self-Awareness, & Personality using DiSC®

Day One Kick-Start and Introductions

Becoming an Effective and Inspirational Leader:

  • Learn the qualities of effective and inspirational leaders and develop strategies to motivate teams in the construction industry.
  • How to build trust and credibility with your people.

Understand Self-Awareness:

  • Recognize the importance of self-awareness for effective leadership.
  • Identify personal strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Your Personality Profile:

  • Understand the DiSC© model and the corresponding personality styles.
  • Analyze your personal DiSC© profile results to better understand your leadership style.

Module 2: Communicating Effectively

Effective Communication Techniques

  • Learn to communicate your vision and strategy and ensure the message you intend to send is the message being received.
  • Develop clear and concise communication by mastering verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Utilize active listening to improve understanding and relationships.
  • Address communication challenges specific to the construction sector.

Module 3: Prioritizing and Delegating

Prioritization Skills:

  • Implement techniques for effective time management and identify your key priorities.

Delegation Strategies:

  • Understand the various approaches to effective delegation.
  • Learn to delegate tasks to team members based on their strengths and skills.

Overcoming Delegation Challenges:

  • Address common barriers to effective delegation, including how to promote accountability within the team.

Action Planning & Post-Session Goal Setting

DAY TWO

Module 4: Performance Managing & Providing Feedback

Day Two Kick-Start and Action Plan Check-In

Performance Management (PM) Fundamentals:

  • Learn the core principles of performance management (PM).
  • Implement performance tracking and evaluate PM Gaps.

Effective Feedback Techniques:

  • Understand the importance of providing timely and structured feedback.
  • Develop skills for delivering feedback which drives improvement.

Performance Improvement & Celebrating Successes:

  • Create and implement action plans to address performance issues.
  • Gain strategies to recognize and reinforce great work.

Module 5: Coaching for Results

Coaching Principles:

  • Support and motivate team members in achieving their full potential by leveraging your role as a coach.
  • Learn and practice using the G.R.O.W coaching model to promote ongoing growth and development.
  • The importance of encouraging a variety of self-directed learning and professional development.

Module 6: Conflict Management Skills

Conflict Management Fundamentals:

  • Understand the key principles of successful Conflict Management.
  • Learn techniques to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

Practice Handling Construction-Specific Conflict Situations:

  • Address common conflict scenarios in the construction industry.
  • Practice conflict management skills through role-playing and case studies.
